The “Unsexy” Products I Use Every Single Day (Because They Actually Work)

Today we’re talking about the products that will never end up in glossy campaigns or on brand trips.

They’re not exciting.
They’re not aspirational.
And honestly, they’re not very fun to talk about.

But they are the things I reach for over and over again.

The products that quietly earn their place in my life — not because they’re pretty, but because they work.

So this is a collection of very unsexy, very practical items that I genuinely rely on.

1. The Shine Eraser That Replaced Powder

Let’s start with something I didn’t even know I needed.

The Magic Shine Eraser from Catrice does exactly what it says — it removes shine. That’s it.

No powder.
No residue.
No cakiness.

Just… gone.

The texture is slightly spongey, and I still don’t fully understand how it works, but it does. Since I started using it, powder has basically disappeared from my routine.

Where I used to set a dewy foundation — I use this.
Where I used to touch up during the day — I use this.

It’s about seven euros, easy to find, and one of those “why didn’t I know about this sooner?” products.

Because let’s be honest — a shiny face isn’t sexy either.

2. The 10x Mirror (A Reality Check We All Need)

Every woman my age needs a 10x mirror. End of story.

At a certain point, a regular mirror just isn’t cutting it anymore. No amount of optimism will fix that.

What I love about mine is that it has a normal mirror on one side and 10x on the other. So you can check the overall picture… and then flip it to deal with the details.

And the lighting? Game changer.

Bad lighting lies.
Good lighting tells the truth.

It’s also brilliant for travel — hotel mirrors are always too far away, too dim, or both.

Yes, you will see things you wish you didn’t.
But I’d rather know what’s going on than squint and hope for the best.

3. The Upper Lip Situation (We’re Talking About It)

We’re firmly in “things we don’t really talk about” territory now.

I bought it on a whim, fully expecting it to be useless — and I was genuinely shocked at how well it works.

5. The Most Important Beauty Product No One Talks About

Let’s talk about sleep.

Because beauty sleep is real.

When I don’t sleep well, my skin shows it immediately. It looks dull, feels reactive, and nothing I do the next day fully makes up for it.

Which brings me to my sleep mask.

I genuinely cannot sleep without one.

I’ve tried everything — silk, weighted, massage, music-playing, all of it. And my favourite is the simplest, cheapest cotton mask.

It’s big enough to block out all light, soft enough that you forget you’re wearing it, and it just works.

I currently have about twelve in my drawer (not an exaggeration), but this one is the one I reach for every night.

If they ever stop making it… I’ll be in trouble.

6. The Weird Little Thing That Saved My Nose

This one is truly unsexy — but life-changing.

I got new glasses last year. Loved them. Looked great.

But after a few hours of wearing them? They were hurting my nose.

Then I found these tiny things called iLiftz.

But they are also some of the most comfortable.

They’re designed to mimic walking barefoot — wide toe box, minimal sole, zero heel. And once your toes get used to having space… it’s very hard to go back.

I started with a cheap pair, then found another on Vinted, and now I wear them constantly at home.

Do I love how they look? Absolutely not.
Do I love how they feel? Completely.

They’ve made me realise how many of my regular shoes are actually too narrow and uncomfortable.

So now I’m on a mission to find shoes that are both comfortable and not hideous.
